My full name Jeroen Diederik Stout, I graduated from the Utrecht School of Arts (Netherlands)
with an EMMA in Gamedesign & Development. I currently read a year-long MSc Computer Games
Technology in Portsmouth (United Kingdom). I work on the design as well as
technical and graphical side of games, with other endeavours such as theatre, poetry,
short story writing, music composition and philosophy.
My current academic interest in the field of games lies in the relationship between the
player and the characters in the game - facing questions such which characters
the player controls, which he feels he controls, and what power-relations lie
between the player and the characters. There are many important design puzzles
that can help players play along with characters in narrative structures.
In my further modern work I search for the aesthetic, the philosophical and for craftmanship,
which I see as the highest virtues in post-contemporary art.
